The majestic Caravelle peninsula of volcanic rock stretches for 10km into the Atlantic Ocean off the northeast coast of Martinique. It is a protected nature conservation area, part regional park and part nature reserve, and home to an extraordinary diversity of flora and wildlife. From the high cliffs and turbulent coast in the north to the quieter bays in the south, nature lovers will be in heaven. Scuba divers are also invariably eager to explore the fine coral formations.
The mini hiking (1h30) explores the dry forest and the mangrove using wood runways or a longer one (3h30) prolongs the small path to join the end of the peninsula, it allows the discovery of remarkable geological sites: Labradorite organ, petrified sources.
